The ATTA Foundation is investing in a new training project together with DEKRA. Over the next three years, the project will give around 4,500 people the opportunity to train and experience the transport industry through advanced simulation technology.

The ATTA Foundation has decided to support the training project SAFE DRIVE powered by ATTA Fonden, which aims to improve road safety, reduce workplace accidents and strengthen skills in the transport and logistics industry. At the same time, the project aims to inspire more children and young people to pursue a career in the transport sector.
The project has been developed in collaboration with DEKRA Denmark, the country’s largest provider of transport training, and will initially run for three years.
At the heart of the initiative is a mobile simulation centre in the form of a specially designed trailer equipped with advanced simulators for truck driving, forklift operation and crane operation. The centre will bring modern, simulator-based training directly to companies, educational institutions, schools and industry events across Denmark.
“Safety in the transport industry is crucial. With SAFE DRIVE, we can create realistic learning situations where drivers can practise how to handle critical and dangerous situations without putting people or equipment at risk. This leads to better learning and improved safety,” says Thorkil Andersen, co-founder of the ATTA Foundation.
Aims to reach 1,500 people annually
The goal is for around 1,500 people each year to train in or experience the mobile simulation centre. The project is therefore expected to reach approximately 4,500 participants during its first three years.
In addition to improving safety among current employees, SAFE DRIVE will serve as a showcase for the transport and logistics industry. By giving young people the opportunity to try out the industry’s vehicles and machinery in a safe and engaging learning environment, the project aims to increase interest in education and careers within the transport sector.
“The transport and logistics industry is facing a significant shortage of skilled drivers and logistics employees. Through realistic simulator experiences, we hope to give more young people a positive introduction to the industry and inspire them to pursue a career in transport and logistics,” says Thorkil Andersen.
DEKRA will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the simulation centre, as well as planning and carrying out the activities. The simulation centre is expected to be established during autumn 2026, with the first activities planned to take place from April 2027.
“We are both proud and grateful that the ATTA Foundation has chosen DEKRA as a partner for this important project. SAFE DRIVE supports our mission to improve safety through training and skills development. We expect the project to have a positive impact on both road safety and recruitment to the transport industry,” says Karsten Trend Poulsen, Managing Director of DEKRA Central and North Jutland.
